Wow. Mama duck's got her work cut out for her chasing the little ones.

To answer your question, it's clear to me that the current prosecution against Assange is a direct result of Wikileaks, and might not stand up in court--whether true or not. And while I have applauded the sharing of information regarding illegal government activities (the theft and disclosure of Cointelpro, for example), much of what Wikileaks offers isn't so much evidence of illegal activity but unwarranted violations of personal privacy (e.g., releasing the SSN's of fallen soldiers), political attacks, and spurious research. It also doesn't sit well with me that both Wikileaks and Pirate Bay were funded by neo-Nazi financier Carl Lundstrom (sp?). Worse, Assange himself grew up in a right-wing cult with close ties to Australian Intel. While he says that he escaped it, the cult had a very strict grooming code, which he still adhered to until a few weeks ago when people made the connection. Moreover, former members of the cult have a history of going back to it, secretly or not.

I can't say for certain what Wikileaks is or isn't yet. I'd be far more supportive of it if it kept better company, or if it didn't exhibit an ideological bias.
